Holy Trinity

Blackford, Somerset

Vicar: Richard Neill

The Vicar for Holy Trinity is Revd Richard Neill. Rchard also looks after the churches of St Mary’s Wedmore and Christchurch Theale.

He has previously served in churches in Hertfordshire and Surrey and latterly in Berkshire. Richard is married with two young daughters and lists as among his interests Alexander the Great and Bath Rugby Club.

Richard is concerned to see Holy Trinity church grow in numbers and depth of spirituality and to reach out more into the neighbourhood. He values the opportunities that his ministry gives him of being with people at some of the key moments of their lives.

Reader: Michael Gelder

Michael Gelder is currently the only licensed Reader in the benefice. He has served as a Reader in eight parishes over a 37 year period as he moved around the country pursuing his career which culminated in being a director in a major retail Bank.
Michael is married, with three children and two grandchildren. Interests include Rotary, Probus, managing large charitable projects, Huddersfield Town Football Club, occasional golf, theatre and looking after a large garden.

Until his retirement eight years ago the main practical contribution Michael could make was preaching and leading services on Sundays. However, since retirement he has felt privileged to minister in a number of other ways in the benefice, particularly in taking funeral services when sensitivity and a listening ear are so important, as, perhaps surprisingly to many, they were as a banker!

As a Reader Michael says his main objective is to provide as much service and support as possible to the Vicar in achieving his objectives.

Church Warden: Paul Perry

Paul is a Service Architect working for the DWP and lives with his wife Katharine in Panborough.

They have three sons who are all grown up now and living in various parts of the country.

Paul and Katharine were initially attracted to Holy Trinity by the warmth of the fellowship and informal nature of the church, and would encourage anyone in Blackford and the surrounding area to come and experience this too.

Church Warden: Karin

Karin works with children with speech, language and literacy needs, as well as studying at Birmingham University (distance learning!).

She enjoys spending time with her husband and four children (all now adults), going for walks with her dogs and getting to know people in the area.

She wants Holy Trinity Blackford to be a place where everyone is welcome and where people feel close to God.
